What to Wear at the Farmers Insurance Open

Ever wonder what to wear to a golf tournament that you aren’t playing in? At the Farmers Insurance Open Preview Night we were able to speak with Westfield UTC Stylist Jennifer. She gave us some great recommendations for outfit ideas for the Farmers Insurance Open this year!

We all want to dress fashionable and that is not always the most practical or, lets be honest, comfortable. Jennifer was able to give us tips and insight to still be fashionably fabulous yet still comfortable.

What would you say the dress code is for the FIO 2018?

“Dressy, athletic wear to unstructured suits for men. Keep in mind footwear because you are walking around a golf course all day, there are ways to be comfortable and still look stylish and polished. You could wear a fashion sneaker to a block heel or a wedge. Preppy just goes naturally with golf and its colorful, fun and happy. Dressing like a lady, you can never go wrong”

Some ideas Jennifer pulled were cute Athleta joggers with a more fashion forward top, tucked in with fashion sneakers or wedges.

She also suggested that if you decided to wear a dress or tennis skirt you could pair with cute sandals or flats even fashion sneakers. Remember, if you did want to wear a heel with that dress or skirt just make sure it has a thick heel and is leather. She mentioned that yes, suede is in but you are at a golf tournament and you don’t want to ruin your heels in the grass! The thick heel is so when you are walking around the course your heel doesn’t sink into the ground. We’ve all been there. It’s the worst trying to walk through that!

Jennifer also stressed that you should try to “be hands free.” So when you are trying to decide what bag to bring make sure it’s a cross-body so you don’t have to worry about carrying something all day.

As you all know, golf is played outside. Weather conditions could change at a moments notice, so make sure to wear layers. Jennifer suggests always bringing a jacket or pull over. You can drape it over your shoulders or tie it around your waste so you can continue to be hands free.

Here are some outfits she picked out for Anna to wear! Clearly she could tell Anna is all about pink and bright colors but also loves to be sporty. All of these outfits were feminine yet comfortable when paired with a cute sandal or fashion-forward athletic shoe.

Can’t wait to see what everyone decides to wear this year! Tag us in your social media posts from the FIO, we’d love to share them.
