Welcome to our series Golfers We Love. Where we interview women who love the game of golf. Whether they play professionally, work in the industry or just love to play occasionally, we want to share their stories with you!

This week, we’d like to introduce you to one of our good friends Tisha Alyn Abrea. Professional golfer and co-owner and social media marketing director for Women With Drive!

First, thank you so much for answering some questions with us! To start off, when did you start playing golf and how did you get into it?

I started playing golf at the age of 3 and began competing at the age of 7. My dad introduced me to golf because he was determined to have his first child get into a sport. Tennis was always his plan for me however right as he began teaching me tennis, he caught the golf bug and took me to the range everyday instead. Coincidentally for my 3rd birthday one of my gifts was a plastic set of clubs. So every day my dad would go to the range, I would bring my colorful set and hit beside him.

That’s an awesome story. We love seeing young girls at the range, so it’s pretty incredible your dad took you before it really caught on for girls. What’s something that golf does for you?

  • One of the things that golf does for me is build amazing friendships, relationships, and connections.
  • Golf provides me a getaway where I can forget about everything else and be at peace.
  • Keeps me disciplined

Golf really can be so peaceful, so true. Speaking of golf, do you have anything you’d like to accomplish with your golf game this year?

Tons of things! Goals for the New Year:

  • I have 2 mini tour wins under my belt but I’d like to accomplish more.
  • I would like to compete in my first Symetra Tour event and Monday qualifier
  • Qualify for an LPGA event
  • Gain full Symetra Status for 2019

We are right there with you on all of those! Let’s do it! Switching gears a little bit to your other work. You are Women with Drives Social Media Marketing Director, tell us a little about that and what Women with Drive is.

Women with Drive is a social community that is created to encourage millennial women to get into the game of golf. From beginners to pros, we simply just want more women in the game and for women to connect on and off the course. Through our free membership we provide discounts to many brands and newsletters to keep our members posted on the latest trends. WWD also serves as a social media marketing company where we market for golf brands and give our influencers gear.

I handle the Social Media side of everything. So every post/story you see is done by me. Essentially I spend countless hours trying to find unique women’s golf content and strategize our partnership posts.

We’ve been a part of WWD since very early on so it’s been great to see you and your co-owner take over it! It’s clear you care very much and put a lot of time and effort into it.

So if you were face-to-face with someone who was thinking about playing golf, what would you tell them to convince them they should play?

I would tell them to 100% get into it! Golf is one of the things I’m most grateful for where I’ve met the coolest people. It’s the best sport to make connections and it’s the one sport where you can learn a lot about yourself. It’s a win/win!

Amen! Last question about your golf. Do you have any superstitions for before you play a round of tournament golf?

I used to have a ton back in junior golf and college golf. I used to only play with a #1 ball. I used to put a quarter in my shoe to “take away the nerves”. I used to eat the same breakfast for an entire tournament if I was playing well. There’s more but I’ll stop. When I turned pro I told myself to quit all of it. So now I think it’s safe to say I have none.

Never heard of the quarter one! That’s really interesting! It does take a lot of work to keep those up so you’re probably better off now (haha).

Let’s get way off topic now! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Hmm. I think I’d be some type of fiery red, because it matches my personality. I get called feisty quite a bit lol.

We can totally see that. Red even looks amazing on you! Alright, if you could only choose one song to play every time you walk into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably Beyonce – Crazy in love

Yasssss! We think we know the answer to this next one but we’re going to ask it anyways! What is your favorite hobby? Minus golf, of course.

DANCING . Love to dance and sing (I’m not great at singing though).

But you are an AMAZING dancer! Some of your biggest videos have been of your dancing. It’s crazy impressive. Next up! If you could have any guilty-pleasure food right now, what would it be?

In n Out and Ferrero Rocher Chocolates lol

Ugh, In n Out always! Such a good choice. Alright Tisha, we’re on our last question here. We know you mentioned some golf goals for the year but do you have any New Year’s Resolutions that you’d like to share?

To apologize less, and learn to please myself before pleasing others.

Those are great. Thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you so much to Tisha for interviewing with us! It was great to learn just a little bit more about you. If you have any questions that you’d like for us to ask future interviewees or even have a request for an interviewee, comment below and let us know!
